Today I stopped up at one of my local stores and came home with a new fish and zoa frag. The fish I acclimated and then headed out for a while. Once i got home I went to dip the coral before putting it in the main tank. I always dip new coral in SeaChem Reef Dip, glad I didn't skip this step since i was in a hurry earlier. Anyways, so in the bottom of the bag I notice the little nudi, the greenish color type. So my question is what do I do with the frag? I know that chemical dips and FW dips usually don't kill the eggs. Anyone know a timeline for the eggs to hatch that I can keep the frag seperate for? I want to be totally sure i'm not adding something to my tank.

Thanks
Ryan

Other than quarantining them, you just need to be REALLY sure you dont see any eggs! i fought the nudi's for months... NOT FUN! but now my yellow coris wrasse keeps the house pretty clean! I think if you qt for a week you're safe. I read the eggs hatch in 3-5 days.

If I baught a frag and had a hitchiker nudi, I would just not take the chance, unless the peice was one that I absolutely had to keep.

I would contact the store, let them know what I found, and ask that they let me return it. If its from a reputable store, it should be no problem and they will be thankfull you gave them a heads up.

To me, nudis arent worth the trouble dealing with unless its too late and you have to. I would not risk it.

If its a must have peice, I would quarentine till I was completely sure it was pest free. Wish I could confidently answer that question, unfortunatly, I am not 100% sure of the answer, and in this case wouldnt want to give bad advice. I will look for the answer, and try to give better info tomorow night...wish I could sooner...

Thanks for the responses, I was able to return the coral to the store today without any issue. Like a good vendor they were going to dip/treat the other specimens to limit the chances of further infection.
