Has anyone done this? I just bought a new 29 gallon tank to move my Mantis into and instead of using the store bought background, I want to paint the back of the tank. Any suggestions or tips on how to do it or what to use is appreciated.
I have painted the backs of two tanks.
I used rustolium spray paint and never had a problem.
I tried using a roller, but the glass was too smooth of a surface,
and the paint smeared very easily.
I used a gloss black for one tank and a deep blue for the other.
Both turned out great, and there is no problems with water getting between the background and the glass that I am sure everyone has had from time to time.
One more thing tape of the edges, or you will get some paint on the side walls. You can use a razor to take off any paint that goes on to the side walls.
I painted a couple of tanks , I used blue on mine. You can use any color you want to, just tape some newspaper to the top so the overspray doesn't get it the tank and harm any occupants.
I started with an ocean blue and put a few coats on. You could still see through it, so I then took a deep, dark blue and went over it. It covered easier and came out well.
Thanks to both of you for the help!
