I am putting a new lighting fixture on my 46 gallon bowfront. It is a current USA 36 inch hood with 1 x 150 watt metal halide and 2 x double power compact actinics.
Question 1: How high should I have the light above the tank? As is, it sits around 3 inches above the tank. I also have a wooden hood that would raise the light to around 13.5 inches above the water or without the fixture legs around 11 inches.
Question 2: What is the best photo period for each the metal halide and actinics? I keep sps and zoas primarily and previously had a T5 fixture with 4 x ATIs.
