what affects the speed at which xenia pulses. lighting, water conditions ( additives) flow etc..

Mine always pulse more when in low flow, but I'm sure other things could affect it too.

They say that Iodine is an important additive, may stop pulsing w/o it. I suppliment with Iodine, a few drops a week, but do not test for it. They definately pulse less in high flow areas.

yep have to agreee..

mine are in a fairly strong current and they pulse constant but not very fast..

I add iodine as well so..

they are deffinatly very cool to watch. then again all coral is!

They spread, multiply,and pulse whether I add iodine or not. I stopped regularly supplimenting iodine a couple years back and have not noticed a change in them. Remember that even most the food you add has iodine in it, so between water changes, and feeding, your already adding iodine to tank. I read this years ago in an article by R. Shimek.
