I have read a ton of people say "don't pop bubble algae as it will release algae spores." My question is if we feed algae spores to our tank in the various forms, why not pop the bubble algae. Is it not eaten by the various critters? Is it just to invasive? Maybe I am not reading the DTs information correctly. I realize DTs and other phyto products use different forms of algae. Just been thinking about it for a couple of days and wanted to be pointed in the right direction.

Sort of removingthe rock from the tank, scrubbing it, rinsing it , and then returning it they are very hard to remove without popping them.

As Russ said Emerald crabs pop them to eat them. If you are keeping nuteints under control in your tank you really shouldn't have too much of a problem in controling them.

I think a bunch of the experts are debating the nutrient/bubble algae issue. Borneman says that nutrients have nothing to do with bubble algae.
I don't have a problem with it (a spot here and there - that I quickly take off because I don't want the bubble algae reef tank), I was just wondering if I was overlooking a free food source.
Thanks for the replies,
Scott
