A question: I'm looking to get a frag of purple sponge from someone's colony. This is the sponge that grows in leaf-like shapes, almost like that of a Montipora Capricornus.

Anyhow, is there any tips to cutting a frag of this type of sponge? Is it just a matter of cutting with a scalpel? Do I need to do anything with the mother colony or the frag to help heal the cut areas?

I've fragged sponges the same way as a regular coral. Nothing needs to be done to either to help them heal...just be sure to superglue it in a spot in your tank.
