I notice that a lot of members here use these and say there the best skimmer, but why? I have never seen one before and I am wondering what sets the apart from the others? There design does not look that much different then any of the other skimmers that I see at the LFS.

Thanks

They hae a special impeller (specific to Euroreef) that makes very small and very many bubbles which makes it a very good skimmer. The only thing I don't like, and this may be my supidity, but I want to run mine wet but the attachment I got to do that (at least I think that is what this is for) doesn't help. The skimmate is VERY VERY black in color.

From what I've seen tweaking ours at the store, you can get a fairly runny skimmate by raising the pipe all the way up. We empty all 15+ of ours everyday, and wow is it a load of stinking garbage taken out of the tanks. I personally like them not just for the performance, but also for their simplicity compared to other skimmers on the market, and the warranty.

No it is the custom impeller that Euroreef uses. A sedra pump by itself will not do it, it must be fitted with the proper impeller. Yes I agree with the simplicity, you just set it up and let it go, other than cleaning that is.

If I am understanding you correctly, you want the skimmate to be more watery. I raise the pipes so the the top of the pipe is almost as high as or equal to the top of the widest part of the skimmer. Does that make sense?

The riser pipes are fully extended.

In addition to all the stuff already mentioned, I think I remember hearing something about the shape of the cylinder and the way that it tapers up into the collection cup. I think it's actually patented.

And it's worth mentioning that there's a lifetime warranty on the impeller.
