I have a bunch of mushrooms that have kspread and starting to invade some areas of my tank. I like the look but they are getting to close to some corals and afraid they will smother them.

Is it possible to remove them from a rock without killing them? Do I just cut them off and will they survive?

I am not looking to kill them and plan on giving/trading them if i can remove them successfully.

Cut them off as close to the rock as you can. It's practically impossible to kill mushrooms. Then throw the piece that you cut off onto some crushed coral or rubble in an area where there's no flow and they will reattach.

Defianately it will reproduce with whatever is left on the rock...I know this from experience. Even my yuma, which is slowly moving down the rock it is attached to, leaving little bits of itself behind, has left a trail of babies in it's wake...4 now total. Be careful to get every last little bit you can see, or you will be adding to your already over-populous muchrooms!!

Good luck!

If you really want to get rid of the stump piece left over and kill it permanently, put some concentrated Kalkwasser paste on the live parts. If you use Kalk, let the remaining part evaportae a bit to get thick and use it.
