what should I look for in salt? is there some tank salts that are better than others? what brands are good? how much should I expect to pay? anyone know of any good deals? i need enough for 200 gallons up front and for water changes later. thanks everyone

I personally like Red Sea Salt. Mixes up really good and is a well balanced salt. And is made with real sea water and some man made salt. In my opinion it's the best. Petco has it for $59 but Deep Blue Reefs said they'll do it for $36 if you buy 3. I hope this helped.

I like the Red Sea salt as well.
Petco is a chain petstore and they have a online store.
Last time Petco had the 200G bucket on sale for $30 I bought 6 of them.
Now that I am down to my last bucket I will be heading out to Deep Blue Reefs.
Do they have it stock, or do you have to order it ahead of time?

Just got off the phone with Dominick. He said he's ordering a lot of it this week and it'll be in by Friday. That's what he uses in his personal tanks and is going to use it in their raceway systems at the store.

Im always switching off from IO to reefcrystals, which ever i can find thats cheaper at the time. Both work great for me.

I have always used I/O so I stick with it. I never switch salts either because I fear stressing the animals
