The scoop-

Going very basic on this build. I am not running a skimmer or refugium/sump.

Just the basics- Heater, wave maker, and a single 250w 14k pulsright. Tank management will be done with live rock/sandbed and water changes. Top off with kalkwasser. Might add a T-5ho or 2 to eliminate the center bar shadow.

Just changed over from a 25 gallon nano-cube.

Added a few damsels today. The wife and daughters were really wanting something to look at, and will be setting up my 150 basement tank as a FOWLR soon, so figured why not. Got 6 of them.

Also, the tank is going through its mini cycle quick. I used all the rock, some sand and filter media from the nano 24 when I broke it down. Going through its diatom cycle at the moment.

The nano cube had some red slime going....and of course transferred into the new tank, but added some chemi-clean. First time using it, but have heard about good results. Fingers crossed.

What changed your mind on a skimmer?
I just hadn't gotten that far, when I posted it being a very basic set up. I really thought about going w/o a skimmer...but it only took a couple weeks to realize I just couldn't do it.

This skimmer should do the trick for me, with gas exchange at least, if it doesn't perform as well as I hope.

I will likely be dosing with microbacter 7 again. Already getting the SPS bug again...

I will be adding a carbon/media filter soon also.

Currently running carbon mixed with GFO. Already have algea growing on the glass.... It was just starting to take hold in the cube, before transfer.

The cube had nothing but lighting issues, so it was slightly neglected. Not to mention it had a very old PC bulb running it.

I am looking forward to stopping this algea before it gets a good hold on things.
