well i am ready to build my stand for my 20gl long, what do you guys and gals recommend for a good heigth? I was thinking of making it 36in tall, then with the tank being 12in that would put it up to a heigth of 4ft., i thought that would be a good viewing heigth. What does everyone think? shorter or taller, how tall is yours and would you make it taller or shorter if you did it all over again?

I made mine 36in.also and my tank is 18in tall.I like the viewing height too. It also has plenty of room inside for things like ca reactor and co2 bottle.

Mine is 30 incehes. I agre with at least 30-36 inches for stuff like a gig reacor or sump. It also makes it easier to access.

yah that is why i was thinking 36in. that gives me plenty of room under it

i think i am also gonna have a door on one side, along with the door in the front,so i can slide the sump in and out if i need to, or better access

I agree on the higher 36" at least - unless you are short! lol.

yea, i agree too. 36" or higher it always seems like your tank is bigger when it is up higher. Plus i dont like bending down to see it.

36"s or higher is really the way to go. The stand for my new tank is 38". With it this high you don't have to bend over as much to look at it. For me this is good because i like to look strait in.

My vote is for 30". Perfect for sitting in chair and staring at.

when i move im mounting mine in the walls at a 48" height so i can look into them as im over 6' and i hate bending over lol.

i just bought my tank! and it came with a 33 inch stand. That is perfect for me. Because with the 180 gallon tank. The top of the tank. Just hits the the top of my head. But hey im only 5'8 though.
