I got the new tank up and running last night. I still don't have the lighting fully planned out. I will probably do 4 6' VHO for now and then add a 400w MH when a good deal comes around. The best sounding deal for a retrofit kit I've seen so far is at hellolights.com. Just though I would put a pic up to let everyone know how it is going.

Looks great!! It is a 120 if I remember correctly? It also looks like you have sand in the bottom. How did you get it to settle so quickly?? Everybody else says its takes days to settle out. Keep the pics coming.

It is still really cloudy. The pic doesn't show how bad it really is. most of the sand was from another tank. It is a 240gal. got the equipment running last night. took the pic this morning.

Yep the tank will be reef. It is kind of a barron wasteland right now. as soon a buisness picks up some I will be able to dump more money into it. things are kind of tight w/ the tank budget.

WillC- the pic posting took some fumbling around. I did a file attachment, Then when the pop up window comes up, right click on the file name. then the box at the top for "insert image". the image text will come up. Paste the file name between the two center brackets.

Did you do anything special to the floor? Do you live on a slab/no basement? 250g = 2500lbs + 250lbs rock + 750lbs sand + sump ++++ = 4000lbs!!! (Maybe a little overstated[D][D]) But wow! Let us know if the floor is creaking.

Oh yeah! I have a basement. That was my estimate too. the tank is on an outside wall w/ block supporting that wall. I put 2 8x2x10 perpendicular to the floor joists. Then I put two adjustable floor jacks (rated for 14,000lbs each) under the 8x2's. I should get down there and post a pic of my little handywork. I hope that will be sufficient. My house was built in the 20's. The walls and floor were not straight BEFORE the tank.

I will take a pic of it later. The floor jacks came from home depot. my ceiling in the basement are only 7 foot. I think the jacks were $16.00 each. A few dollars more for taller ones.
