Just wondering what you all keep your reef temperature at. I have done research and have gotten alot of conflicting info.

What do you think? I keep mine around 80 degrees, a little less at night, a little more during the lighting.

Is that where I should be?

Temperature is the most crital physical parameter for captive reef systems. If all other parameters are ideal, but the temperature is not, the reef will not thrive. The temperature of 70-80 degrees for the best results, annd as stable as possible. In our experience, a temperature of 74-76 degrees is ideal. it the temperature varies plus or minus one or two degrees during the course of the day, this not a problem. The most common problem is high temp; above 80. Wide fluctuations are also harmful, especially to fish health. Temperature fluctuations are commonly associated with the incidence of Cryptocaryon irritans (saltwater "ich") by j. Charles Delbeek and Julian Sprung

Temp swings can be devestating to a reef. It is know and document that large up wellings of cold water from the deeper sections of the ocean have caused bleaching events.

The temps you mention are exceptable, but I think anything ove 81 is pushing it. IMO
