Ok so i got this xlarge marineland bio wheel sump on trade and plan to use it on my 180 when i get it set up.It has two big bio wheels in it.My question is should i use these or replace with bio balls instead.I have heard using the bio wheels in saltwater can be bad.

I wouldn't use bio balls either...they tend to get a lot of waste trapped in them and become nitrate factories.

Agree, I'd definitely not use the bio wheels. And the bioballs are kind of a pain. See about getting some marine pure balls or some ceramic media instead.

would those still be ok since it would be exposed out of the water like the bio balls would. i have never had a issue with using bioballs in my past tanks but i also cleaned them every six months or so.
