I have been dealing with this for a few months now been told that its Red Slime and dosed it 3 times with Chemiclean with no prevail.... I have dealt with Red Slime before in a smaller tank and seen the positive effects of Chemiclean, this Algae is not showing any reaction to the dose what so ever... In my opinion it looks to dark for red slime, its more brown then anything... and i am doing weekly water changes... so could someone please Identify this for me?

The tank has been runnning for just over a year, when I do my weekly wc I syphon the sand as soon as I get done with the other side of the tank I can see it start to come back right where I started...

I have 4 T5 HO bulbs but I think they just reached 6 months old, I'm in the process of saving up to buy the bulbs, but in the mean time I trying to identify what this algae is like I was saying I used Chemiclean, so if this is cyno wouldn't it caused some type of reaction? Also the tank is in the basement... I also have a lot of flow in the tank and PH is 8.2

interesting, well it could be light but i have had a number of systems with really old bulbs going i have not had that problem if you are messing with the sand each time you do a wc you might be bringing up some sand that the algae likes a lot perhaps a new food you have started using.
