Hey gang, I was in Wal-mart yesterday (first time, interesting) Any-hoo, I paroused the poorly stocked, disheveled pet department and saw the miracle beam led kit. I know its not as hi-tech as some of the other moonbeams out there and I do already have a DIY moon beam that I made. But, the whole kit(Inverter, docking station, two led's ((with room for 3 more)) and mounts) was on sale for 14.97, marked down from 24.97. Not bad. I scanned it on the u-scan thing just to make sure... It came up 4.97!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not sure if Wal-mart uses a chainwide upc system. (as this was the last one) but it's worth a try if your looking for a deal!

I have 2 of them on my tank, and they work GREAT. One kinda burned out or something as it is a touch dimmer then the other, but they put a soft blue-glow to the tank...very pretty. My only recommendation is a piece of wax paper in the LED case to diffuse the light, otherwise it is more like a spot-light.

Just my $.02

Remember these were marked $14.97 a great price for 2 lights, hub, and transormer. The hub will support up to 5 lights. But, again it scanned at $4.97 That is the deal of the year!

I have had those lights for almost 2 years now. meijer has them for double what walmart does hehe. anyways I thought they did no good on a fowlr aquarium. they just did not make the tank look that cool at night. however now that my tank is a reef tank i think they make my tnak look awesome. I have 4 different colors on my tank.

I was jsut in the Fenton Wal Mart (hectic christmas shopping...) anyway, I remebered this thread and looked in the pet section. I couldn't find the adapter boxes. But the did have the add on lights for $1.75. I picked up all of the blue ones, and a couple of the orange ones, there are still probably a dozen left (mostly red, orange and green I think.) So now I guess I have to find the adapter box kit somewhere....Or try to build one, I imagine it is just a DC power supply right? The package says it is a 6 Volt system.

I looked in the one at Hall and 94...nothing.
VanDyke and 12 mile....nothing.

Too many reefers, not enough Wal-Marts!!!

I ordered a SWEET moonlight kit from Ebay a few days ago. The manual is SO easy to follow, and the parts are relatively inexpensive. I'll let everyone know what it looks like when I am done if any might be interested in building your own moonlights.

pix to follow....
