150,000 reef with a 25 foot diameter atoll in the middle but set towards the back. 50 foot by 50 foot and 8' deep definatly... It'd have it's own mangrove "swamp" and a large open sandbed for a 'ray or two. I would have a grate on one side set 6" away from the wall and full of perferations and the sam on the other pump intakes would be mounted behind one and returns behind the other so i'd have a constant current! I'm thinking 50 feet per minute of flow which is lets see.....8 x 50 = 400 cubic feet per minute which is 2,992 GPM which means I'd need at least 2 10 hp Submersable propeller pumps....there 1,500 GPM at 0 head and at only $4,575 there a bargain...($9,150) For lighting I will use the sun!!!! The ceilin gto the room where this is going to be will be 2" acrylic with Mahogany supports. This will be supplemented by 1000W Halide units hung on motorized trolleys that wheel themselvs acrost the tank to simulate the sun moving across the sky ummm....20 of these....one every 2.5 feet...($7000 for fixtures...$1800 for bulbs... ($7495 for trolley system)Total of $16695) There would be no supplemental mechanical filtration because i wouldn't want to harm my plankton population! (which of course would be supplemented by an automated culture system). No biofiltration will be needed due to the 5,000 cubic foot sand bed. Automatic topoff will be acomplished with a 1,200 gpd RO/DI unit ($2,885) For supplemental moonlights there'll be 420nm LED's embeded in the ceiling supports one every 4 square feet or so for a total of 625 LED's They'd be set as far as brightnes to what the moon was supposed to be each day. I'd guess this system could be subbed out for $1000. As far as heating and cooling I'd run two 20HP Aqua Logic Heat pumps, 240,000 BTU cooling/heating capacity....they only draw 83.1 Ampres ($44,950)....On second thought screw the pumps i'll use Air lifts!!! ummm 100 of them a 4" air lift can move 3-5 CFM so say 4 CFM on average and I need 400CFM so.......yup 100 of the that'll run...($130) plus compressor to run these.. A sweetwater Regenerative blower ummm.....model...S63 190 CFM aught to do it ($998). Plus livestock.......lol maybe some other day when i've got to much time on my hands. I didn't check speeling or grammar so live with it...
