I would like to say thanks to specialk for letting me know about this site. Now the question, i'am doing a fowlr tank (90gl) and my cycle is almost complete, is it true that normal to slightly high nitrates in such a tank is not a bad thing? I have heard it is for reef tanks, but not fo or fowlr tanks. I would like to say thanks in advance for any and all replies.

Normal to slightly high nitrates aren't a bad thing in a fowlr, true. What is the nitrate reading? Just make sure that your ammonia and nitrite levels have risen and dropped. When you add fish do it sloooooooowly or the waste from the fish will cause a mini cycle, bad. Take your time to prevent problems, your tank will be stocked in due time.

Welcome to Michigan Reefers, Glad to see you here.

What fish do you plan on adding?
Are you going to have a clean up crew?

Kaye

Ahhhh a Trigger there goes the clean up crew.....:D

I dont know if Picasso picks at the snails or not, I like triggers though. I have a Pinktail and he does not bother a thing in my reef.

At least they are cheap snacks lol, i also heard pinktails are very good in reeftanks. My wife want's me to start a reef for her, but i want to wait to see if i can keep the fowlr going for a few months first. Because those reeftanks mean big $$$ lol. But then again, if she does not mind me spending $$$ i'am all for it.
