I recently setup my refuge with some macro algae. I was wondering when to harvest it. It is pretty much covering the bottom of the tank, and about 3/4 the way to the top.

I prune mine when it starts growing out of the water on top.

Sounds like it is time. I harvest some of mine every 2 weeks or so. You want to make sure your nutrient export stays level if you take too much then there won't be enough left and nutrients will start to build up.

Cut it back when it gets thick or get too tall. Like penny said, don't take too much.

With a last name like mine people make that mistake from time to time especially without meeting me face to face. It really drives my wife nuts because they are always confusing first and last names on her. But I digress
