OK so if your not already running some anti virus and spywear protection, well shame on you you should be. However you say your cheap and dont want to buy anything well I have a solution for you cheapskates( Im one of them) download AVG antivirus program free edition from www.grisoft.com and a free spywear program called spybot search and destroy from http//www.safer-networking.org/ and run and Update these 2 programs often if not daily, I guarentee some of you will run these and will find things on your PC that you never knew where there. Just a helpful tip and if you really like it do what I do and donate to the good people that put out these programs.[^]

i prefer to buy from tried and trusted companies, like Symantec. i use them for Anti-virus and my software firewall. they constantly update it, and not that expensive.

I use Norton and can't complain about it. I've had more e-mails caught by Norton in the past few weeks, then the past few years combined.
I also have Spybot and read about it in PC magazine. You're right! It has caught tons of "crap" and deleted them out of my PC. Thanks for sharing the info!

I dont care for Symantec you do know they track things on your computer like applications. They recently launched an anti-pirate detector that will inform them of pirated software on machines. I use Zone-Alarm for a fire wall and ad-aware for spyware. Macafee for Virus protection too.

i also use ad-aware. i like it alot. Symantec hasn't caused me any problems, not that i would have anything like that of course. it's amazing how many intrusion attempts i get on a daily basis. lol most sub seven script kiddies. i have fun reporting their IP to my isp. I acutally called and complained enough for them to start contacting the idiots' host ISPs. i always make sure to wait for them to scan me a couple of times before i report them so they are repeat offenders and cant say it was a mistake.. lol. Problably some pretty upset parents out there.

I will second, Zone-Alarm for a fire wall and ad-aware for spyware. I love Norton AV Corp. I'll look into their anti-piracy stuff. I didn't know they implemented this. Curious.
