That cat is obviously injured and scared, not to mention cornered in a cage, I don't blame it for freaking out. Put yourself in the same scenario and you'd freak out too. I personally love cats, alot of people don't, but it's usually because they've had bad experiences with cat's that are somewhat wild. If you want your cat to be more personable and people friendly, instead of leaving their food bowl filled with food, feed them on a regular schedule 4-5 times a day. I do this with my cats and they learn to be around you and depend on you for their food. Everyone who meets my cats, even people I know that HATE cats, love mine. And feeding them a small amount, several times a day, on a schedule helps to keep them from getting too fat, which is a big problem for house cats. Oh yeah, no outside, it makes them more wild(mean).

Although I am no cat person, I would not wish harm on one.

On the topic of snakes.....had a custom aquarium client who needed an aquarium. His new wife did not appreciate his habit of leaving his 6ft constrictor free inside the extra bedroom. The situation got to a boiling point when the door to the extra bedroom was inadvertently left open on an evening when the guy was away so his new wife could have some girlfriends over for cards. Of course the snake got out, and caused a ruckus. But none of this was even the issue. The new wife came with a small 6lb Terrier....and the snake made the little dog go to ground and become a little 6lb madman, barking and barking. It was simply too much. The snake had to be caged...and he was certain a custom aquarium was the answer.....no stock tank was big enough for his baby....he had certainly had this snake longer than any woman in his life prior to this.

Well, as is usually the case, folks have grand ideas for aquariums until they really begin to grasp the cost of such dreams. This resulted in the old snake becoming the center of much discussion with the new wife. One evening after a round of discussion on the topic, they returned home to find the door on the extra bedroom had been left open yet again. No snake to be found....new wife thinking, YES! d^mn 6ft snake is gone and no longer a problem. Wife realizes little Terrier is nowhere to be found, and husband is thinking, YES! d^mn 6lb dog is quiet for a change.

When they find their pets, the 6ft snake is under the dinning room table with a 6lb knot in it's stomach.

I got a call from the husband, said his wife was so pi$$ed, he wouldn't be keeping the 6ft snake and the custom aquarium would not be ordered.

I'm a cat person myself. Don't care for dogs. Was bitten by one when I was young and I haven't liked them since. My cat is very low maintenance (unlike a dog). I don't have to walk her, take her outside multiple times to goto the bathroom (and having to pickup the waste), stop her from drinking out of the toilet, knocking over the trash, she doesn't bark (very annoying), doesn't smell from being outside (you know the smell a dog gets), doesn't beg for food, doesn't jump on people, etc...

She's a 6yr old gray siamese mix that I bought from the local humane society roughly a yr ago. She's real good about keeping herself clean and has great litter box habits. Her litter box is one of those automatic littermaids so it cleans itself pretty much and doesn't stink. She has claws but doesn't scratch up my furniture. She's not longhair so no brushing is needed. She sleeps with me, follows me around, likes to be pet, etc. She doesn't have issues with hairballs or puking.

Thats a great story wayne, during the summer i used to let my boa sit on our lawn and he would just lay in the sun.

the neighbors chihuahua would always come barking but he would always hiss until it left. i really don't like that dog.

snakes are more of living art than pets. their brains are to primal to understand who you are, or be a companion. they cant hear. and they cant see except in thermal terms.

so i say snakes are great but the people that say their snake loves them are idiots. snakes think two thing when they are pets:

This heat signature is way too big to kill or eat so i will put up with it.

or

This heat signature is just about right size, if i feel threatened, i can make them go away.

:D

Ok so I never thought I was a cat person until I adopted the Queen of Sheba. My cat Smoke (named after Tony Stewart, yes I'm a nascar fan) will sit on my computer desk and survey her kingdom. She however acts very much like a dog. Meets me at the door, plays fetch, expects to be loved when I get home from work all the things my sisters lab demands. I was told my many people that cats tolerate us in their home. I'm buying a house and Smoke will get a younger sibling in the form of a Giant Alaskan Malmute puppy soon
