I could use a little help identifying this nuisance

Does anybody know what this is, and if/how I can get rid of it? I've had this tank for about 5 years, and this stuff has been growing since about 6 months after I added this piece of live rock. It doesn't appear to be harming anything, but after about 2 years I've finally decided that I'm tired of looking at it... I'd appreciate any help I can get!

Very nice little ball sponges, not a bad thing at all.

Looks like some kind of happy yellow sponge.

If it is, its a good sign your system is very healthy.

I think its a great addition to any set up.

I thought it was cool at first, but it's slowly taking over my live rock. You can only see a small amount of it. Can I just remove some select pieces or will it just regenerate in the same spot again?

I would worry more about the hydroids on the upper right hand corner of the first picture you posted.

Now, those are horrible and will sting corals etc.

They too came with the live rock. They haven't spread, but have been present in the same two spots since they appeared. Any suggestions on those? I will be doing a tank transfer this month, so I'll have the rock out of the tank for a short while. Again, I really appreciate all of your input! Thank you
