I'd like to keep some type of lionfish in a 72 bowfront, but I'd also like to keep some little fish like firefish and such. I'm also for sure going to have a snowflake eel, and a fairly large foxface. I don't plan to have any coral because I don't feel like scrounging my meager resources for expensive lighting :/. I kind've like triggers, but I read that you shouldn't put them with lions, or other ornamental fish. How does the lion's venom not hurt the trigger?! Was also thinking 2 GsM clowns and some kind of anemone.

triggers will hurt the lions and bite off there spines. but it can also be the other way around where the lion stings the trigger

you need to really decide what you want to do, sounds like you want predators and then snacks when they're hungry lol. the eel and the foxface, with maybe a smaller lion like a fuzzy dwarf would be a good mix. But firefish and other smaller fish would be lunch for whatever lion you choose also maybe the eel.

The eel we already have, he's even been nice to the clown gobys. Dagda - I'm very jealous of you getting to watch those stinky little demons get eaten lol. I guess I won't have any of the tiny little fish that I like so much :/

Yea, they're my favorite little fish! Could I do a pistol shrimp pair and a jawfish or to? Will those be eaten by a lion?
As mentioned all small fish, including the jawfish and firefish would become a snack (eventually). Snowflake eels are not good hunters, which is why your clown gobies are still alive. Put a lion in the mix and they're toast ;)

Lol... snowflake eel fail :D! I'll think of something to do with my eel :). He's not even a foot long yet and I suspect thats got something to do with it. What should I do for sand sifters in a tank with the eel and lion then?

The longer you have the eel and the bigger it gets the more expensive the treat will be for him in terms of firefish. They are really nocturnal hunters so basically any small sized fish that sleeps in the sand or in rock work will most likely become 4th meal sooner or later. My snowflake has taken out a pair of firefish, blue damsels, a hawian hawkfish (he dislocated his jaw eatting this one) and I even caught him going after the same food as a my 6 inch hippo and the hippo wound up in his mouth (unharmed luckily). Shrimp out of the question as well.

The eel will continue to get more agressive as he gets bigger, I would suggest making sure he has plenty of hiding spaces and maybe even some PVC tube homes to explore.

I don't think it would be a good idea for nature or your pocketbook to try to combine major preditors and peaceful community fish.
