There are alot out there that work great, You shoud check out Premiumaquatics.com they have a ton of skimmers to look through. I personally have a 75g with a 30g sump, And I have a Vertex 100 skimmer in it and it has worked great for 2 years now.

My skimmer of choice for a 75 reef would be a Euroreef rs-80 (now reef dynamics)... you just missed out I just sold a rs-80..I had one on my 90 gallon it worked well.... asm g-2 is also a good skimmer for the price.... SWC skimmers are great also, it really depends on your bioload and the price you want to spend, try to get the biggest skimmer your sump and budget allow...

Hi defensekid,

If you haven't made a purchase yet and have the budget for it, google "lifereef", i purchased a Lifereef VS3-30 in December 2009 and it has been running everyday since. No fancy needle valves, it's just a workhorse.

After the initial 2 week adjustment period (mostly because I felt I needed to fiddle with it) I have never, ever had to make any adjustments to continue the high amount of goo it produces. I really mean it when I tell you I have done nothing at all to the skimmer with the exception of cleaning the collection cup in almost 2 years. I have had several other brands which the airflow needed almost constant adjustment, now I don't have to even think about it.

I have it installed on a 125gal, FOWLR and critters, no corals. The skimmer is way overbuilt and will last a lifetime. Check them out.

A lot of it is based on budget and what you are looking for. The more money you spend the higher quality and craftsmanship you get.

On the cheap side, I am running a Bubble Magus NAC7 cone on my new 60g rimless and have been real impressed with it. Pulls out some nasty stuff and the tank is not mature or stocked yet.

On the expensive side, I have a couple Bubble Kings here. The one a BK Delux 300 Internal I bought brand new 5-6 years ago and it looks like the day I bought it. Very high quality and second to none for quality. The other BK is a Supermarin 250 which I picked up used and looks great but is not running yet.

I also have three ASM G-3s running on my clown systems, they work well but are fairly low quality and the pumps they use (Sedras) are so-so. Unsure with today's technology I would run these on a reef system.

I have used Euro-Reefs in the past (when they used Sedra Pumps) and the worked the same as ASMs with a nicer (thicker) acrylic work.

I'm quite certain the OP five years removed has found his skimmer, sold it, and bought another prior to you two hawking your cheesy wares in the equipment forums.
Ha! I hate people.

I am one of those "people" who likes to have faith in humanity, thinking that posts at the top of the forum are new and not from 5 years ago... but as soon as I let my guard down, some idiot bumps a thread that is 5+ years old...:help::2755:
