I'm still a big fan of MH. I ran (3) 400w hamilton 14k's over my 180 along with (4) 160w VHO's. SPS growth was outstanding. I did, however, have to continuously run the chiller and all told, the whole setup cost over $100 / month to run just in elecctricity.

If you're concerned about growth, don't overlook waterflow. IMHO, this is as important as lighting. I would certainly recommend the Tunze Wavebox. The coral growth and polyp extension is outstanding.

If money is no objecct, I really thing the new LED lighting is the future of our hobby. Simulating the proper sunrise/set and moonrise/set along with variable cloud cover on the new Solaris will revolutionize the way we keep our animals.

Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, i'm definitely loving that foam idea. That might be pretty wicked for this next setup. I'm going to keep that in mind. As stated before we could go on and on about the debate between MH vs HOT5's. I've seen setups with both and i'm currently running a MH but I might go with the t5's from the standpoint they are cheaper, there is more variability between the bulbs, they don't generate as much heat, nor do they consume as much energy for use. Being that i'm a poor college student, all of those are good enough factors for me. That and the fact that i'll be running two tanks so I have to cut energy costs were I can without degrading performance too much.

And yes gats i'm definitely having a little clown haven. It should be pretty cool. I haven't worked out the finer details of it yet but I will when the time comes.

Andy, you always know I welcome any and all help with my setups. I value the opinions of other reefers and its a good opportunity for us fish nerds to get together, share some brew and some good stories.

Aaron, I appreciate the feedback as well. Just not sure if I want to run MH on this one. I've got some time to figure it out. I think I'll have the flow covered with a closed loop system on this one. Should be pretty wicked.

You'll get there eventually. It just takes time. It'll be a little while until I get this bad boy rolling but I wanted to get some good ideas generated so I could start gathering parts for "THE GREAT MIGRATION!", or basically the move to a bigger tank. The other way just sounded more fun though.:jester:
