Tragic isn't it. Especially when you think with the damage we have already caused to reef in such a short time. Really in only 1 human life time. Possible have already lost the cure to cancer and the answer to living forever. We suck!

Purchase propagated corals for the win

"Coral reefs are probable sources of medicines to cure the diseases that currently plague the earth. Chemicals found in the reefs have been used to treat ulcers, heart disease, leukemia, and more. In one of the most famous instances, AZT, which is based on chemicals extracted from a Caribbean reef sponge, has been used to treat HIV infections. Currently, more than half of all cancer research is focused on finding cures from marine sources. Every time a reef is destroyed, the chance of relieving the pain and suffering of people all over the world is reduced."

How sad......you are right soverjas we do suck!!! I can't believe people aren't going to start thinking about them and their impact on us until after they're gone.

However, I believe that purchasing propagated corals isn't going to do much. It's the climate change that is killing them faster than us taking them is. This is my opinion: I believe they should allow select research and aquariums to harvest known and unknown species of both coral and fish. Mainly because if we ever get the whole climate thing in check they will be looking for help from hobbyist, aquariums and researchers to help start the reefs again with frags and fish species.

There's a beautiful youtube video of some county re growing their reefs. I'll see if I can find it.
