If you can place a piece of eggcrate on the rock rack in the refugium area.

Zip-tie it to the PVC, it will give you good stablility for your rock.

It looks great !!!

Dentdominator,
Do you have your sand touching the bottom of your pvc cross pipes?
I may have to raise mying up some more.
I only have 3 1/4" to the bottom..
Thanks..
There is 1.5 inches of space between the sand and the PCV.

I have no sand touching the PVC at all, I wanted to make sure there was good water flow between the rock and sand.

Don't hesitate to ask any questions.

You did a great job with the sump.

I'm looking at your pic right now.....
I will ask if needed..Thanks for the offer
I'm glad you went first......-devil
Have a good one...-cheers

Nice job on the sump. If you have not plumbed it in yet, someone metioned that you baffles are a little close together. I agree with him. The water flow will be fine. Cleaning them will drive you nutty. I built one where my baffles were an inch apart. There was not enough room to clean.

Just food for thought and my experience.

IMO the baffle area does not need or require any cleaning.

There is so much flow in those areas it self cleans.

All these years with baffles in my sump, I have never cleaned between the glass.

Keep us updated. I think you should start a new build thread about your tank in the members tank area.

I was going to ask that question...
I didn't think there was going to be a issues there...

Ok rack is bigger and I went over to stingray a bought 75lbs of sand that came with seeding bacteria...
The sump is full of water and sand with a heater.
I just need to find my eggcrate and switchover the drains, skimmer and pump.
I also stopped at H.D. and got a light fixter...
I'm at work right now but I will post pic. later when I get home.....

I've got some extra eggcrate if you want it. Free, I'm on my way to stingray bay in a few minutes if you're interested let me know.

i agree with copperband...i thought live rock was supposed to sit in the sand bed. and if not what are the benifits of having live rock on a rack.
interesting, never heard anyone bring that up before.
I dont understand what benefits there would be to putting it in the sandbed, as apposed to having it lifted off. I understand having it on the rack, to have more surface area of the rock exposed to the water. but dont understand any beneffits to haing it in the sandbed.

The rock will be home for bugs...pods and ext.
You want as much sand exposed to the water for gas exchange so we hang the rock and do not disturb the sand bed ever..
Thanks for asking.....
