I agree with the first part. The second is a very interesting idea... I would no idea how to do this but I'm intrigued.

Wrote and asked about longevity of the units... said that he's used the Bridgelux for over a year with no issues (they do have a 1 year warranty as well).

Also, just wrote to ask about group discounts... if ordering 5 or more the discount is quite good. $142 each for standard and $147 each for multicolor.
The reefkeeper ALC module has ports for 0- 10 volts for dimming.
All you'd do is remove the dimming pots in the light and hook those wires to the ports in the light controller module.

Then you can control them with your reefkeeper. Make a lilght schedule with intensity and timers. Good Stuff.

That is awesome. Would give you unlimited control-ability pretty much.

Also, for a group buy, it is definitely cheap. Anyone still thinking of buying a unit or 3? If I do (and I'll know in a couple days) I'm in for 3.

Im not sure if they will cover 36in well or not. I have plenty of light for my tank, but I cant say for sure that you wouldnt have any shadowed areas at 36in. I guess it would depend on how high you hung the fixtures too...Mine are about 6 in off the water or so.

He told me, and Nasoisking also said that he doesnt recommend optics if your tank is under 24" deep. Anything deeper he said you should use. I didn't order optics with mine, but he said if I ever wanted to get them, all i'd have to pay is shipping. And putting them on just involves a handful of screws.

My only concern is the 1 year (5000 hours) lifespan.. I was completely on board until I realized I'd be spending $400.00 + a year to replace these fixtures. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Seller just corrected the typo on the website with me. Claiming it's 50000 hours, which sounds much more like LED's... I'm no longer concerned by this.
