Update, sorry no more pics yet.

Finished adding the three additional 20Hs to the broodstock system, will fill them tomorrow after the silicone and PVC cement are fully cured.

Tomorrow I should also be finished painting the first 10 growout tanks (20H). Went with flat back on three sides and white bottoms, will have a removable black front piece. Starting thinking about planning/laying out for some black round tubs for larvae rearing (not clowns) only going to have a couple of these for the future stuff I want to play with.

Wednesday hoping to stat plumbing in the growout tanks and building the first wet dry and sump. Hoping to have water in and start cycling within 2 weeks, seems like a ways out but I work 60-65 hours a week

Well update, pics will come tomorrow.

First growout system will be ready for water tomorrow. Long time coming...we ended up redoing one of our basement bedrooms and a few other much needed projects. Training a hunting dog as well :)

Very happy with the first growout system, total system will be around 150 gallons, 5 x 20H tanks into a common sump. Skimmer is direct fed by overflow from wet/dry filtration. Same basic filtration/equipment as the broodstock system (40w UV, rotating spray bar over a 15 gallon tank of bioballs, G3 skimmer). Once it cycles will be moving in some of my juvenile clowns that the system was put up for. The game plan is to start the clowns in these tanks from eggs. Just not have them hooked into the system while in larval rearing stages. All tanks can be isolated and run independently with just the turn of a couple valves. The second growout system is virtually done just needs to be plumbed, tanks and everything are drilled/painted and ready for plumbing. The nicest thing is each 150 gallon system takes up a footprint of about 3'x3.5' so in a total space of 6'x3.5' there will be a total of three 150 gallon systems. Each complete with its own filtration etc.

When I got done working with the plumbing it was time to head into work so no pics tonight. I have limited space to work with so I had to be as efficient with space as possible and this is what I came up with. Only planning on running the two growout systems until middle of the way through next year then the third system will be added. The stand though is already in place to do all three due to the configuration of the tanks, filtration and room.

Double returns was an idea I got after reading Hoff's book. I did it so that I can have the same flow going into the tank but have it be more dispersed. Less splashing/rushing in of the water will be less harsh on smaller juveniles and allow for a higher turnover rate when they are older and getting them ready for higher flow tanks they will experience at stores and their homes.

Right next to this system there will be an identical one (mirror imagine of this one) then on the stand you see behind them that is built to accomodate seven 15 high tanks with wet dry/sump/etc below. Total area roughly 6'x3.5' and will have 17 growout tanks with about 450 gallons. Three different systems for redundancy and flexibility.

Will get some updated pics this weekend.

Update - a few weeks ago I moved the first 100 baby clowns into the growout system as a 'test batch'. They did great. Consisted of roughly 40 ocellaris and 60 clarkii about 2 months old (1/2").

They did fantastic, no losses so I moved the next batch of roughly 400 ocellaris is today. These guys are about a month and a half of age now and about 3/8" long.

Have a few more batches of clowns growing out in stand alone tanks of ocellaris and black and white ocellaris. I am hoping next week to do a clutch of eggs in the growout system from day one, tank will be isolated from the system until they are older but will reduce the amount of space being taken up by larval rearing tanks giving me space for other things :)
