How old and how big are the parent fish. i have two that get along so well not sure about their sex. but i have seen one trying to get close almost touching the other cardinal and then kinda flutters. they have been togather more than 6 months now.

Lets see-I have had the parents for about a year I think? I got them from JBLabs, and they were already breeding then. They are pretty much full grown, maybe tail and all 2-1/2-3" long?

You cant really tell the sexes apart, and they dont change,so many people start with three, and wait to see if two pair off.
The parents arent hard to keep at all.

Our Favia fragum have been planulating the past couple of nights too, so I've been pipetting them out for settlement in petri dishes. Speaking of which, off I go to check on them again...
