We would like to talk a poll and see how much do you all spend on an average for internet based orders for livestock?

I haven't ordered any livestock yet. I've been unsure of the health condition the livestock will arrive in.
I ordered freshwater shrimp off the internet once. They came in about 50% dead. The company replaced those and I paid the shipping. Again 50% of the shrimp arrived dead. So I only got 75% of what I ordered and paid for shipping twice. My internet experience was very bad. The standard policy is you pay shipping for replacements, but with the shipping and box costs where they are it can sink you. I vowed to buy aquarium live stock in person from there on.

I get pretty much everythign online these days, as I really don't seem to be able to find anything that trips my trigger in the LFSs in GR these days. I miss Coral Reef.

Just spent over $200 at fishsupply.com ....no livestock just equipment,etc. They have the best prices I've seen. Even beat out Dr. fosters prices.
Sofar this year, I'm at over 600 in fish and 500 in corals bought online. And I have much more to buy. This is not of course counting equipment and dry goods I have purchased online, which come to around 3k.
My time is at a premium, I really don't have time to run all over the metro area to LFS's and checkout their selections. And then get mad when they don't have what I want or it is highly priced compared to what I can find online.
Some online vendors are very good and others are very poor. You really need to listen to opinions and reviews of the vendor you intend to make a purchase from and communicate with them before a purchase if you have any questions. You can *always* ask for pictures
I guess it's a sign of the times, but those larger establishments who are right next to the airports and who do volume business, seem to be the ones really succeeding in the trade as far as making a profit and everyone pays less jmho

I don't mind buying drygoods from the internet, especially the "hard to find" items. I will buy livestock off MR and even then it is usually local, so I can look at it first, But I don't buy livestock from the internet where it has to be shipped a long distance.

I dont trust internet orders, i prefer to get my stuff locally. that way i can see how the specimen actually look, and get a generalized feel for how they will be in the tank.

Havent made up my mind
I havent ordered anything online yet but I think I am going to have to. I want a Flame Angel and I saw it at Atlantis Fish Shop in Clawson but when my wife called for it the next day it was gone, and I havent seen one anywhere else. So I think I might order it from Saltwaterfish.com
