I do not agree, Kalk has a very high PH. I guess It would burn them. My logic tells me that every marine plant, animal needs a certain Ph. If you inject them with a 12+ Ph. They will not be very happy.

So now you have both sides covered....lol. Stick one and let us know...

i think the kalk would kill them if you injected them, But, and I don't know if this is accurate or not, I was under the impression that if you burst the bubble algae it allows them to spread faster throughout your tank. You may kill that one but see many more pop up later becasue of the method used.

Wouldnt an emerald crab just pop them? I never understood the logic in that.....perhaps the crab can just keep up with the new algae growing?

i also used an emeral crab and in a few weeks it was all gone and never returned. But as many will tell you they can be worse then the bubble algea. The love to walk on corals and mess things up all over your tank but if you dont have many corals then I would do it just my opinion.

Try this first. I suppose you will be using a needle and syringe right? What if you tried to aspirate out the spores and then injected the calc to kill the parent cell. Might work, this way you decrease the pressure in the cell first.. If you just pushed the calc it seems they would explode first and release spores.

not sure on the science behind the crab and the elgea but i know when I got one it was completely gone, after it was gone I gave it to another fellow reefer and mine never came back

We have all heard the idea that if you break the bubble it will spread. I just thought of something. If Emerald Crabs eat it. Then I seriously doubt if "popping" the bubble will do anything. My reasoning is The crab will do just that, pop the bubble as it is ate.

Emerald crabs are more of valonia lawnmowers than exterminators. I bet once they "did the job" if you took them out you would see valonia again.
Agree here. I have had a few Foxface to control Caulerpa. A number of times now I thought okay the Foxface has taken care of it and returned them to the LFS. Some period of time later it has come back and I have had to add another Foxface.
