I use a automatic fish feeding station that feed 2 times per day.

Inside the feeder is Formula One and Two Marine Pellets, Small by Ocean Nutrition mixed 50 - 50.

11:00 AM and 3:00 PM

Then between 6:00 - 7:00 PM,

I feed Formula Two Flake with Cyclopeze, concentrated garlic and Selcon.

Last feeding between, 10:00 - 11:00 PM,

I feed Prime Reef Flakes by Ocean Nutrition for a good night treat.

Total 4 times per day.

The corals get fed 2 per week another formula.

Feeding

Well I guess I'm odd! My fish get formula 1 once a day most days, and on the other days ocean nutrition reef pellets once a day. On a rare occasion they may get pellets early in the day and form1 in the evening. Maybe once a week or two my tang gets a seeweed sheet. I never really feed my corals.

Trust me they don't appear to be under fed. My clown is giant now:)

I feed 2x daily. Once in the morning with the small pellets, and once before bed a mixture of 4 1/4 frozen cubes (cut up and thawed in water). Corals love these, and coral frenzy once a week. Everyone seems happy so far. Ive tried the seaweed sheets, no one likes those  not even the coral beauty.

I have found that feeding a mixture of frozen brine and mysis and omnivore food, in small amounts relative to the amount if fish in the tank, 2 times a day for 4 days a week works best. It keeps the diet balanced and the food doesn't build-up nasty biowaste in the tank. It also gives the clean-up crews time to do their jobs. I have a great homemade gel diet for marine aquarium fish that I will post on this site. It was given to me by a biologist at the Waikiki Aquarium.

I am kind of surprised people feed so much. I really think once a day is enough for most fish. Almost no corals that use light need special feeding as the fish poop is enough. All my fish are very fat and healthy with just one feeding a day. I do soak every feeding in zoe and garlic.

I am with you in that I only feed the coral a couple times a week. I only have 2 clowns in about 200 gallons of water in the system so the fish get small amounts of food the other 5 days that the corals are not being fed. With the low fish load in my system pods are plentiful and the clowns are constantly picking them off.

While corals may not "need" food to survive the growth rates are increased between 50-75% when they are (The Reef Aquarium Vol #3 pg 574).

Well, maybe im crazy becasue i love to see my skimmer work. I counted my feedings again and i guess its more like 8 times. These are small feedings of course. I just love feeding.
It's great you mention the skimmer.

If I was to feed heavy the skimmer would have a 2-3 hour melt down - until it got its marbles back.

Small feedings 100% - good point !!!

No kidding. Skimmer doesn't like all that oily food. But give it an hour and it goes.

Good heavens! I have a BC14gal with 2 baby occies (<1/2") and a YWG for fish; some trumpets, yellow polyps, zoos, palys, shrooms, xenia, and sinularia. I feed MAYBE once every 2-3 days, a few pellets of formula one (although the baby occie gets a TINY bit of crushed dried cyclopeeze) and I have algae growing like CRAZY on my back wall! (cheato too to in the back chamber) ... I would never feed more!
