My inhabitants just wont leave my blue zoas where I superglue them!
I have 2 peppermint shrimp that have learned their lesson by getting their pinchers superglued shut!
I also have 5 emerald crabs and several hermits. I am not sure who is to blame exactly, but it get very tiring to wake up just to have to search the tank for the expensive blues! I am to the point where when I see anything on the rock I put them, I smack them off real good -devil

Anyone have any ideas how to keep them away from where I want them?:eek:rder

I have a hang on breeder box that I use for fragging. It sits at the top of the water and has little current. That way I can get the frag to establish without all the variables that cause it to fail. Once properly fragged, I just place in the rock work, and glue the frag rock down.

the blues didnt come on a rock.. they were loose, but they now have quite the build up of a superglue base.. I dont have any small pieces of rock to attach them to yet but I have some rock that I started to cure a few days ago that I plan to break into smaller pieces for fragging. My crabs and shrimp are very nosy and go anywhere that I put my hands in the tank. As soon as I pull my hands out, they rush to the new frags like they are trying to tell me not to put anything in the tank! I even broke the planter off the end of my srubbing wand trying to fight off the attacks!
I will try to superglue them to an empty shell for now, but who wants to place bets that the hermits will then decide they want to live in that shell?!

Peppermints are not exactly reef safe and will pick at corals. They're probably picking your zoanthids up and taking them somewhere to eat them. You may not want to have them in the same tank if you want the zoanthids left alone.

i keep them pretty well fed.. so i dont think its the pepermints, although i think it is funny that 2 of em have superglue claws! HAHA servers them right!.. most of the time they are just layin on the sand bed or on another rock. The hermits obviously want whats underneath em, and break em loose, or dont know what they are doing and it happens by accident.. In any case, they should leave stuff where I put it.. LOL the little punks! Im starting to become very territorial of the blues, so maybe they will catch on and stay away from them..

So, it's funny that the shrimp have superglue on their claws?...I guess some people just don't have respect for the animals in their care.

Well fed...says who? The shrimp? If they're picking at something they're looking for food.

bad fish!!!

Yeah when my peppermint shrimp looks at me funny I take it out and yell at it and slap it around. They I say to it I bet that taught you a lesson and you'll never do that again, seeing how shrimp are so smart and remember from their mistakes. We should make this a poll. How to you punish you aquarium pets when they are naughty? We'll gotta go my clowns in it's anemone and I told him he's grounded from it, for stealing food from it!!

:eek:rder

the creatures remember when other creatures "claim their territory" in the tank, whats the difference? i dont really beat em up, just chase em away. Have u tried to smack a shrimp? they are fast! really fast!
ever seen a fish that makes sure to stay away from another fish's home?

Ever see those two fish eat together freely when you put food in the tank? You're chasing them away from food and it would be a 24 hour job to keep them completely away from their food. You might view the corals as your corals (they are) but they view the corals as food (it is). That's why I mentioned that you may want to consider not keeping them in the same tank. The attitute you show towards the shrimp when all they're trying to do is eat might change if you try to better understand the shrimp and show a little compassion towards them. Them eating your corals is not their fault because they didn't put the corals there.
