captive bred fish and corals are a better product anyways, they are healthier, stronger and easier to feed. and yes i am will to spend extra money on captive bred fish when they are available.Though this website is not the most reliable for actual data it does make a point. It is true that far too many fish are lost during the process of capturing, shipping, and sale. We as consumers need to be aware of how our fish come to us. I was horrified when I learned how they collect mandarin Dragonets from the wild. I will never purchase another wild caught one again. I hope others are willing to spend the extra money on captive raised fish when available to make a point.

+1 Saw that pic years ago.The capture facility claimed that that was a years worth of doas that they kept frozen.
Agree with the licensing part. Its funny how you can go to prison for abusing a dog, but you can do anything you want to any fish you can get your hands on.Kinda crazy that the sea is not over run with the massive swarms of fish from all the areas too remote to collect from. Considering collection only effects a small percent of the reefs out there you would think the 14-97% "extra" in the untouched reef areas would be creating a population BOOM bigger than could be managed.... oh wait, it does not work like that. Everyone knows the collection guys use big fish magnets and suck the fish from around the world all to the HI airport. (sounds more believable than the article)
I do believe there should be a test and licence to sell and own SW fish and corals, but that is a whole different story.
