Just pick it up like a baseball and toss it in LOL. When I have to move them, I just wave my hand in front of it a few times so all of the spines are pointed in one direction and then with two fingers grab the longest spine. When it releases I let the urchin basically float into my other hand. This hand kept open. Do not grab the urchin for obvious reasons. I have moved mine a few times. And other than the occasional broken spine, no damage to either of us.
