their website is making progress, i picked up two t.r. seahorses and some florida blue ricordia with purple rim. they have a 4' by 4' area full of clams 2 for $50.00, but i'm not ready for those yet.

I think I'm gonna go down there today to get some clams. I'm so upset that one of my emeralds damaged my 3 yr-old maxima so badly that even isolation and spot feeding couldn't help it recover.

Do they have any maximas?

what??? another reason not to post on MR

OK tell me of a shop that grows all of their own coral. People on this forum were complaining that they weren't open enough hours, now your bashing them because they are? All of the shops frag colonies for frags. "For me ill stick to trading with people on forums if I want frags. In sted of supporting a busness that useto be good for the wild reefs but now dose the same as every other retail store in the country (sell almost all wild corals and fish)They have chosen to become just another retail store" Good luck finding everything in forums, good luck buying sight unseen. your rant should have been under your own thread titled " why i hate all LFS's and you better sell me what i want at my price or i'll never shop there again and bash everybody"-action

2: I didnt bash them for being open more hours for retail just that they did it because they lost to many of there wholesale customers because of high prices that is the reason they are open more!

Do you have access to their accounting books? Were you part of the forum where people brought it to their attention that they wanted more hours? You made an accusation based on you "opinion". Like i said, you want to bash someone. START YOUR OWN THREAD. " facts as I have seen it" = OPInION . It may be true for YOU but is not in itself a FACT. AGAIN START YOU OWN THREAD IT DOESN"T COST YOU ANYTHING. As much as i want to pick apart all of your statements i'll leave it at this. Start you own thread maybe they will address you "issues" I started this thread to tell people what i saw, because maybe someone who doesn't live close would have an idea of what is going on there and make the drive.

i heard they are supposed to aquaculture their own stuff.. because they are not zoned commercial property. but it sure seems like they are doing their best to be a commercial business that is zoned agricultural.. maybe they are growing the minimum ammount required to keep themselves zoned correctly, i dunno.. but you never see any other agricultrually zoned farmers buying someone elses corn to sell or stuff like that.. should they now be zoned commercial property?
i was told the reason there cannot be a big sign out front is because they are not commercial property. i was told that they are agricultural property because they grown their own stuff and that is how they are able to even be in business..
i dunno if they could get rezoned commercial, but i am sure they get a heck of a tax break being zoned agricultural rather then commercial.. so shouldnt that bring prices down?
the way they are zoned now, they should be growing their own, not retail.. retail is commercial.

This happens EVERY time someone says anything nice about the Trop.
Insults, speculation, arguing
I can see why Blix got upset. I upsets me too.
Somehow the Trop is held to a different set of standards than every other store? Speculation on their wholesale accounts and zoning and profits?
Does ANYONE really have a clue how much of their stock is propagated? Or what wholesale accounts they may have?
Seems like people are always "fabricating" reasons to hate them.
Many of the retail online drygood equipment stores are also wholesalers. But that doesnt mean they are selling the retail stuff at wholesale cost. Doesnt work that way.

I happen to like the Trop. Ray and his Dad have always been real nice to me. They have always taken time to answer questions, give a tour, and assist with tank problems. When I purchased a mate for my clownfish, the pair didn't work out. Ray took the clownfish back, and traded me for a big blue xenia rock. And that was two weeks later, after I couldn't make my female clownfish take to the new guy! ALL of the animals I have bought there have all been healthy. I have never had a problem with any fish, clams or coral. Prices, well... good stuff isn't cheap. I would rather pay more for healthy animals, than spend less, and have it die. I am rather new to MR, and I don't understand why anyone wouldn't like the Trop. As for where their stock comes from, well sure I would like to buy propagated animals. However, the demand in this hobby is quite large. It does seem like it would be difficult for ANYONE to grow enough coral, fish and clams to keep up with the demand.
