My favorite restaurant that has since bought the farm....Cookers...potatoe cheese soup...the best...period.
where is that, sounds familiar... I am the kinda chef that hears a statement like that and wants to beat it..-devil we should start a MR chefs club..

If the get together was ever to happen, I will bring the beer cheese soup!

Like this thread, kinda getting me out of the rut of the same old soups I have gotten into at work.

Cant wait for autumn to try the autumn soup, and gonna try the BLT soup very soon!

Thx for the ideas guys.

Nothing worse than a soup rut!
We should start a chef's table or something and have some mad feasts, everyone bring some food and do some cooking and eating..... sounds like a good idea..

Fresh lobster soup, more like a lobster cheese soup in a fresh baked bread bowl. Piled off the scooter with the bride on the coast(NH) for an afternoon snack. Side trip from Laconia with others and just stopped for a brew and snack. In hindsight probably the best soup I have had.

my kids are always after me to make them Chicken dumpling too. I think they just like the homemade dumplings. My favorite is french onion where you saute the onions in butter and brown sugar till they are perfect. mmmmm

"SOUP" can be a complicated subject... there's "watery" soups like chicken noodle, creamy soups, "stews", even "cold" soups.... I guess you probably were asking about anything that would be served in a bowl and eaten with a spoon...-devil ?

If that's the case:

French Onion (Traditional)
Lobster Bisque
Beef Stew or Gumbo
Borscht

My favorite soup to eat and make is a corn chowder with chicken. I've re-named it tortilla soup. It's great with the lime tortilla chips on top.
It is a cream based soup with corn chicken potatoes butternut squash onions green peppers jalepeno chili powder cumin honey pickapepper and a few other ingredient's... very good soup..
I got it years ago from one of my favorite cookbooks, soup and breads or breads and soups a dairy hollow cookbook by Crescent Dragonwagon.. Wierd name I know. But anyway, Ive doubled the amount of ingredients for a chunkier and heartier soup.
Also loved the black bean soup we used to make at the Village. You need wine in it. Very yummy.

I love a good fish soup.
I love any good soup.
I also like to make a quick little potato soup with bacon, sausage and greens (mustard and turnip or spinach..) Need onion and some garlic. A favorite sausage to use is a fresh polish sausage, bratwurst if I can't find the polish. Unless you feel spicy Italian works. I also like to add cannellini beans to it.....
Just brown up the sausage really well and crispy bacon browned onions.. The mustard an turnip greens give it great flavor. I am a real sucker for greens... I love em.. The soup base is chicken...
