Well, it all started last April. I was running along happily with two tanks. A 75 gallon mixed reef and a 50 breeder SPS setup. The SPS setup had a major outbreak of dictyota algae and after a little research the plan was to break down the tank, kill the rock off and start over. So one night had a few friends from MR (mgers21, btortelli, jlombardi29) over to hold all of my corals while I shut the tank down and got ready for the restart.

Well after all of the corals were in buckets getting ready to go to their new homes someone who shall remain nameless (thanks Mike) had the great idea that since I was breaking one tank down anyway it would be the perfect time to upgrade while proceeding to walk around the house and make suggestions about where to put the "new" setup. I laughed it off that night, but since my wife hadn't threatened to divorce me if I even thought about it, I thought about it. After a couple weeks of research on cost of tank, equipment, lighting, ect, and after figuring out that by combining the two tanks into one the electricity was going to be about a wash, I decided to go for it.
Since this is a big upgrade the next step for me was to sell off all of the livestock that I had left as well as all of my old equipment so that I could afford this new monstrosity (thanks to everyone who bought livestock and drygoods from me this spring and summer. It made this crazy idea all possible. I am sure I will be visiting some of your places to purchase livestock, ect from you in the future.)
Picture of the 75 gallon mixed reef that also came down to fund this project:
Finally, I bleached and acid bathed (vinegar) all of my old live rock out of my two tanks so that I would not be dealing with the algae issues that started this whole thing in the future.
