Im looking to buy some salt from a local shop, Anyone know who has the best prices? $54 for a 200 gallon box with free shipping from Drs foster & smith is hard to beat. Is anyone competative with this?

Rc

The RC 200 gallon box only mixes 160 gallon of salt at 35PPT. It is not the best value. Look at NeoMarine. It is a few dollars more from DF and Smith and a superior salt IMO. 160 gallon bucket mixes 160 gallons at 35ppt and the salt is much cleaner and matches seawater much better.

I agree! The reefer that recommended the NEOMarine to you must be very intelligent. :victory: LOL. I really like the NEOMarine salt. After 3 hours of mixing, it's completely clean. The salt is also spot on when it comes to potassium levels I tested (for my ZEO tank). I highly recommend this salt. If you can buy enough to get the free shipping, it's definitely worth it :)

+1. You can also get it at pet connections for a good price. They also sell RC and IO at under fifty bucks a bucket. Best salt prices around. Even after bumping the price of neo up they still beat online vendors when you add the shipping. Trop also sells IO in the box. Not sure on the price tho.

What brands of salt are you guys getting at those prices ???? I use salinity brand and it is $90.00 bucks for 224 gallon bucket. Only one shop i know of sells it, sure would be nice to find it cheaper.
Stingray bay sells that salinity 224 bucket for 71.98 . But you will need a Russian weightlifter to carry it out for you ! That thing is heavy

I have been thinking of switching the NeoMarine for a while now. I may have to do it. The only "problem" is that I have my dosing all automated. How do the Ca, Alk, and Mg levels compare? It's nice that the K level is up to snuff.

Also, 3 hours to clear up the salt mix seems like a long time. I have clear water within 5 minutes of mixing RC. I have had no problems with RC yet though I keep hearing that the batches are not consistent. I think I will need some more info to make a decision on this matter. Is the increased cost of NeoMarine going to be worth making a switch?
