well I for one would be willing to start fresh

if we lost the buy sell archive I really don't think it would be a big loss there are probably tons of threads that could be deleted or cleared out any way. items sold, people out of the hobby etc. it be nice to keep it, but I rather have the wet and dry forums setup. it be so much easier when it's done olny other problem is I list say fish or corals in one forum and equipment in the other I am now using two of my allowed selling post instead of one. so if we keep the selling rules number of allowed post should be doubled.

On the topic of the sell/ trade area... how about a way to have atleast the city/zip code displayed before clicking on items. I hate seeing something I am looking for and then click and see its on the other side of the state :(

I know it is in the rules that area must be in title but its not enforced and mods would spend all day changing/ telling people to put it in if it was.

actually

there is nothing in the selling rules saying you must post location in the title. not saying if it shouldn't just that it isn't. you are thinking of another forum. Honestly as big as our state is I'd like to see east/west or similar as well but that is very unlikely to happen. but we could they could ask zip codes be listed in the topic. of course some things can be shipped even corals ups is one day ground in Michigan.

Opps sorry guess its not in this sites rules, thought it was.... it'd be nice if it was or there was some kind of way to display the zip without having to open the actual link.

I know that things can be shipped but not having paypal or credit cards kind of makes that difficult + I like to see things in person before I buy them even with a good picture ya know. Although I have bought online a couple times from one of the sponsors by just depositing $$ into their account at the bank for a couple personal must haves, but don't think there'd be to many people willing to give out their account info to make a sale lol

I think its a great idea to have a split between the two but what to do with whole setups i dont know... the person whos selling could link the threads and then list a whole price below. This would be less convienent though.

The ability to delete one's own threads from the selling/trading forums could help. I for one would be happy to go delete my own thread after the item or items were sold. I realize some people would not bother but I think most would.

That would be the main problem with doing this. With the volume of posts in these forums taking the time to go through the existing posts and move them to the proper forum just isn't gonna happen. That leaves a real concern over how to deal with the current posts.

yes

I'm premium I have the ability to delete any thread I started in any forum. I'm not always perfect on the selling threads I admit. but it has come in handy when a thread makes a bad left turn from what you wanted. I think that another consideration at least in the selling forum. Deb I know wqe can be a bunch of whiners sometimes! :jester:

Speaking whining I still love to be able to hit submit when posting and not wait forever! :victory:

another thing I'd personally like to see is stronger policies on searching before posting. on some of the boards i'm on they come down pretty hard on those Mr. Obvious post. and those people that start with. Hey I know this has been asked before but I didn't feel like looking/searching! :butcher:

Yes Premium members do. However the ability to delete one's own selling threads is a benefit to MR not to the member. Why would someone pay simply for the benefit of saving MR some space?

I think premium members have the ability to delete their own threads already.
I'm not sure how that affects the trader rating system, or if it would at all.

We can delete or edit any threads we start, and any of our own posts. Not a big seller for premium membership, but a nice perk. It's nice to be able to go back and fix a misspelling or add more info to a post.
Personally I like to see the old selling posts stay. It's nice to be able to look up older stuff. When I bought or sold something, etc...

We do not encourage members (premium) to delete selling/trading threads since they are used for trader ratings. When a person leaves feedback they need the link to add to the feedback. I don't know much about computers/servers etc. so I don't know how much room it takes up.

Non-Premium members can edit for spelling and such but not delete. Tom makes a good point about the feedback though. I was just looking at a way to save server space.

but usally what I do is delete the post once everything is done. I sold it, they paid for it, took it home I leave a trader rating for them or vice vesa it's hopefully marked sold and then I leave it a few days. then delete it. only thing is sometimes it is nice like DEb said to leave them alone so you can refer back to who you sold something too. for fallow up or what ever.

Anyone can go back and fix their spelling and add stuff really.... its called edit and I believe everyone has it

Been too many years since I was a regular member and lots of changes in that time. I am no longer certain what the limitations on regular members are. Though the premium member benefits list editing posts:
